Sales teams don't check competitive intelligence dashboards. They live in Slack—coordinating deals, asking questions, sharing wins. By the time PMMs email battle cards or post updates in shared drives, sales reps have already missed the critical window to use that intelligence in customer conversations.

Competitive intelligence stuck in dashboards doesn't influence deals. Intelligence delivered directly to sales workflows does.

How Steve's Slack Integration Works

Steve posts competitive intelligence automatically to Slack channels—battle cards, competitor news, pricing changes, and daily summaries appear where sales teams already work.

Connect Your Slack Workspace

Navigate to SettingsSlack and click Connect Slack Workspace. Authorize Steve to access your Slack channels (read/write permissions for posting updates).

Once connected, Steve can post to any public channel in your workspace. Private channels require manual invitation of the Steve app.

Automated Competitive Intelligence Summaries

Configure daily or weekly summaries delivered to a Slack channel of your choice. Navigate to Project SettingsSlack Settings:

Choose notification type: Slack or Email Select Slack channel: #sales-team, #competitive-intel, #product-updates, etc. Set frequency: Daily (every morning at 9am) or Weekly (Monday mornings)

Steve automatically posts summaries including:

  • Latest competitor news from past 24 hours/7 days
  • New battle card updates or regenerations
  • Pricing changes detected via website tracking
  • G2 review sentiment shifts
  • Competitor funding or product launch announcements

Sales teams see competitive intelligence without opening Steve—critical updates surface directly in their daily Slack workflow.

Battle Card Auto-Posting from Presets

When creating battle card presets with automated regeneration, connect a Slack channel for auto-posting. Navigate to Presets[Preset Name]Configure Slack:

  1. Select destination channel (#sales-enablement, #battle-cards, etc.)
  2. Save integration

Now, every time Steve regenerates that battle card (weekly or monthly), it automatically posts to Slack with:

  • Battle card name and competitor
  • Summary of what changed since last version
  • Direct link to view the updated card in Steve
  • Timestamp of update

Sales reps receive fresh competitive intelligence automatically—no manual distribution required.

Competitor News Alerts

Configure news alerts to post competitor announcements directly to Slack. Navigate to NewsView Settings:

  1. Click Create Alert
  2. Select Slack channel (#competitive-intel, #product-team, etc.)
  3. Choose categories to monitor (Product Updates, Fundraising, Partnerships, etc.)
  4. Select specific competitors or all

Steve posts matching news articles to Slack within minutes of detection, including:

  • Article headline and summary
  • Category badges (Product, Financial, etc.)
  • Source and publication date
  • Direct link to full article

Product teams monitoring "Product Updates" see competitor feature launches immediately. Finance teams tracking "Fundraising" catch competitor funding rounds in real-time.

Share Battle Cards via Slack

Beyond automated posting, manually share specific battle cards to Slack channels. From any battle card, click ShareShare to Slack:

  1. Select destination channel
  2. Add optional message/context
  3. Click Post to Slack

Steve posts the battle card summary with a link. Use this for:

  • Prepping sales team before competitive deal
  • Briefing executives on specific competitor threat
  • Onboarding new sales reps with competitor context

Team Collaboration in Slack

Sales reps can ask questions about competitors directly in Slack without switching to Steve:

  • "What's Competitor X's pricing for their Enterprise tier?"
  • "Show me the battle card for Acme Corp"
  • "What changed in our positioning against Competitor Y?"

Steve's Slack app responds with relevant battle card sections, pricing data, or competitive intelligence—enabling just-in-time learning during customer calls.

Notification Preferences

Different teams need different updates. Configure multiple Slack integrations:

Sales team (#sales-enablement):

  • Daily competitive intelligence summaries
  • Battle card auto-posts from preset regenerations
  • News alerts for "Promotions" and "Pricing" categories

Product team (#product-intel):

  • Weekly summaries (lower frequency, less noise)
  • News alerts for "Product Updates" and "Partnerships"
  • Battle card posts for feature-focused competitors only

Executive team (#exec-briefing):

  • Weekly summaries only (high-level view)
  • News alerts for "Fundraising" and "Leadership Changes"
  • Major competitive shifts only

This segmentation ensures each team receives relevant intelligence without notification overload.

Integration Benefits

Without Slack integration:

  • PMMs manually email battle cards (low open rates)
  • Sales teams don't check Steve dashboard daily
  • Competitive intelligence siloed in tools sales doesn't use
  • Time-sensitive updates miss critical deal windows

With Slack integration:

  • Competitive intelligence appears in sales workflow automatically
  • No manual distribution or email campaigns needed
  • Sales teams stay current without extra effort
  • Real-time updates influence active deal conversations

The difference is adoption. Competitive intelligence living in Slack gets used. Intelligence stuck in dashboards gets ignored.
